Capella Ubud hides a theatrical tented camp in dense rainforest, combining private pools, Bill Bensley’s maximalist design and a strong sense of adventure without sacrificing serious luxury.

Capella Ubud sits in the forested hills of Keliki north of central Ubud, where the tents and public spaces are woven into steep jungle terrain rather than laid out like a conventional resort.

Bill Bensley’s design imagines a fictional 19th-century explorers’ camp, layering antiques, patterned fabrics, brass, leather and hand-crafted objects into an intentionally theatrical environment.

Each tent functions as a private retreat with its own pool and outdoor deck, while the suspended architecture keeps much of the surrounding vegetation intact and gives the resort a strong sense of immersion.

Api Jiwa, Mads Lange and the campfire programming create a social center, while Auriga Spa, yoga and guided experiences connect the stay back to Balinese wellness and the surrounding landscape.

Capella Ubud is best for travelers who want their hotel to feel like an adventure in itself, especially those who appreciate expressive design more than minimalist tropical luxury.
