Gild Hall is a 130-room Thompson hideaway in FiDi where Jim Walrod’s mid-century interiors, Slim Aarons photography and roomy suites soften Lower Manhattan’s corporate edges.
Gild Hall sits on Gold Street in the Financial District, within walking distance of Wall Street, the Seaport, One World Trade Center and the Brooklyn-bound ferries.
The hotel has 130 rooms and suites designed with a warm mid-century sensibility by Jim Walrod, using custom leather headboards, dark wood and Slim Aarons photography to create a clubby downtown atmosphere.
Standard King Rooms begin around 26 square metres, while King Suites reach roughly 52 square metres. The 78-square-metre Penthouse adds a separate lounge, dining table for eight and a clawfoot soaking tub.
Facilities are intentionally boutique rather than resort-like, centered on a fitness studio and Felice, the hotel’s Italian restaurant and wine bar, with Lower Manhattan itself providing most of the entertainment.
Gild Hall is best for travelers who want FiDi convenience without sleeping in a generic business hotel, especially couples and repeat New York visitors who appreciate character over a huge amenity list.
