Gran Hotel Inglés sits on Calle de Echegaray in Barrio de las Letras, within easy walking distance of Puerta del Sol, the Prado, Plaza Mayor and many of central Madrid’s best restaurants and bars.

The hotel first opened in 1886 and is regarded as Madrid’s oldest luxury hotel, with its current incarnation interpreting that history through polished Art Deco-inspired interiors rather than recreating a museum.

Rooms begin around 27 square metres, Premium categories reach roughly 40 square metres and the Royal Suite expands to about 125 square metres. Oversized beds, Egyptian-cotton linens and freestanding tubs heighten the sense of old-school glamour.

Wellness is intentionally intimate, centered on massage and personalized treatments rather than a large urban spa complex. The lobby and restaurant spaces add an elegant social atmosphere that suits the compact boutique scale.

Gran Hotel Inglés is best for travelers who want historic Madrid on foot but prefer sophisticated 1920s character to palace-hotel formality, especially couples and design-focused city-break guests.
