Post Ranch Inn occupies 100 acres high above Highway 1 in Big Sur, where the Santa Lucia Mountains fall sharply toward the Pacific. The property is deliberately spread across the landscape so that buildings disappear into cliffs, redwoods and meadow rather than dominate the view.
Its 40 guestrooms and private houses are individually shaped around the terrain. Ocean Houses use living roofs and curved forms, Tree Houses lift guests into the forest, and cliffside rooms frame the Pacific through expansive glass and private decks.
Three pools include two heated infinity-style basking pools overlooking the ocean and a lap pool for swimming. The newly reimagined Post Ranch Spa is nearly twice its former size, with five treatment spaces, a private Redwood Sanctuary and floor-to-ceiling forest views.
Sierra Mar sits dramatically at the cliff edge and remains central to the experience, with daily breakfast included for hotel guests and menus built around seasonal California ingredients.
