Inside the meticulously restored Old War Office, Raffles London turns one of Whitehall’s most storied buildings into a grand new hotel with historic suites, nine restaurants and a four-floor Guerlain spa.
Raffles London at The OWO occupies the former Old War Office on Whitehall, a monumental Edwardian building associated with Britain’s military and political history. A six-year restoration transformed the complex while preserving rooms, corridors and architectural details that witnessed major 20th-century events.
Thierry Despont’s interiors interpret Edwardian grandeur through a contemporary lens. Standard rooms are already generous for central London, while five Heritage Suites occupy particularly historic former offices, including spaces connected to wartime decision-making.
The Guerlain Spa is one of the hotel’s defining assets, extending across four floors and roughly 27,000 square feet. It includes a 20-meter indoor pool, vitality pool, sauna, steam rooms, movement studios, treatment rooms and private VIP suites.
The OWO is also a major dining destination with nine restaurants and three bars. Michelin-starred Mauro Colagreco leads one of the flagship concepts, while the wider collection ranges from relaxed Mediterranean dining to highly specialized destination restaurants.
