Facing Port Vell from the Gothic Quarter, Serras Barcelona is a 28-room boutique hotel with Picasso history, contemporary interiors and a rooftop infinity pool overlooking the marina and Mediterranean.
Serras Barcelona occupies a historic building on Passeig de Colom where the Gothic Quarter opens toward Port Vell. Pablo Picasso used a studio in the building in 1896 and created Science and Charity there, giving the hotel an unusually direct connection to the city’s artistic history.
There are only 28 rooms and suites, all contemporary in style and oriented either toward the marina or the Gothic Quarter. Modernist tile patterns, balconies and light-filled interiors reference Barcelona without overwhelming the compact spaces.
The rooftop is the hotel’s signature shared space, with an infinity pool, loungers and panoramic views across Port Vell toward Barceloneta and the Mediterranean. The small scale makes the terrace feel closer to a private club than a large urban pool deck.
Le Nine and Informal shape the dining program, while the rooftop provides lighter meals, cocktails and sunset atmosphere. The surrounding Gothic Quarter and El Born neighborhoods add hundreds of restaurants and bars within walking distance.
Serras Barcelona is best for travelers who want boutique intimacy and immediate access to the old city without giving up views or a pool. The Picasso connection and waterfront position give a small hotel an outsized sense of place.
