SO/ Berlin Das Stue occupies a protected 1930s building that once housed the Royal Danish Legation, tucked inside Berlin’s embassy quarter between Tiergarten and the zoo. The location is central but remarkably quiet, with parkland and animal enclosures visible from many rooms.

The hotel has 78 rooms and suites spanning the historic building and contemporary additions. Patricia Urquiola’s interiors combine design classics, contemporary furniture and bold art, while the largest suites add five-meter ceilings and broad terraces.

The spa includes an indoor pool, sauna, gym and three treatment rooms with natural light. Guests can also use an exclusive entrance from the hotel terrace directly into Berlin Zoo for a fee, an amenity almost impossible to duplicate elsewhere.

Current dining centers on French cuisine and the hotel’s relaxed bar culture, with The Casual, Stue Bar and terrace providing a living-room mood rather than a grand-hotel formality.

Das Stue is best for travelers who want Berlin design, greenery and intimacy in equal measure. Its former-embassy architecture and position between Tiergarten and the zoo make it one of the city’s most distinctive luxury hotels.
