Spread through 32 hectares of tropical gardens on Zanzibar’s southwest coast, The Residence is an all-villa resort where every accommodation has a private pool and the beach stretches for roughly a mile.
The Residence Zanzibar sits outside Kizimkazi on the island’s quieter southwest coast, surrounded by 32 hectares of forested tropical gardens. A long white-sand beach and extensive grounds give the property a greater sense of seclusion than many resorts closer to Stone Town.
The resort contains 66 standalone villas that blend contemporary design with African, Omani and European references. Every villa has its own private swimming pool and outdoor deck, allowing even entry categories to function as private retreats.
A 45-by-15-meter beachfront infinity pool provides a more social alternative to the villa pools, while tennis, watersports, bicycles and a kids club make the resort workable for families as well as couples. The spa draws on local flora and spices for its treatment program.
Dining centers on The Dining Room and The Pavilion, which move between international, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and island flavors. Private meals can also be arranged in villas, on the jetty or beside the water.
