Set inside Kanehide Kise Country Club above the East China Sea, The Ritz-Carlton, Okinawa has emerged from a 2026 refresh with 97 rooms, a championship golf setting, treetop spa and renewed dining.
The Ritz-Carlton, Okinawa occupies a quiet hilltop position in Nago, surrounded on three sides by the 18-hole Kanehide Kise Country Club. The elevation creates views toward the East China Sea while keeping the hotel embedded in subtropical greenery.
Its 97 rooms and suites are unusually spacious and incorporate Ryukyu design references, terraces and deep soaking tubs. Golf-course and sea views give the accommodations a strong sense of place, while selected categories add private whirlpools.
The resort reopened in July 2026 after a refresh that updated restaurants and other guest-facing spaces. The award-winning spa sits in a separate building surrounded by forest, with treatments using local ingredients and a quiet indoor-outdoor atmosphere.
Dining now includes Riva Ristorante, inspired by southern Italy but built around Okinawan produce, alongside Japanese and other resort restaurants. The golf course, pools and nearby Kise Beach provide the core recreation.
The Ritz-Carlton, Okinawa is best for travelers who prefer Okinawa’s green northern coast to a dense beachfront resort zone. The combination of golf, refreshed design and a forested spa makes the property feel unusually serene.
