The Setai occupies a landmark 1930s Art Deco building on Collins Avenue alongside a modern oceanfront tower, only steps from the beach and South Beach nightlife. Jean-Michel Gathy’s design layers Asian materials and artifacts over Miami architecture to create a remarkably calm atmosphere in a highly energetic neighborhood.

The hotel offers 157 accommodations divided between Art Deco Suites and larger Ocean Suites in the tower. Teak, dark woods, Duxiana beds and subdued lighting make the rooms feel intentionally cocoon-like, while higher tower suites add full kitchens and sweeping Atlantic views.

Three infinity pools are kept at different temperatures for lap swimming, lounging and families. Private beach service extends the resort directly onto the sand, while the Valmont spa includes seven treatment rooms, saunas, steam facilities, cold plunge and a 24-hour fitness center.

Jaya brings Indian, Chinese, Thai and Balinese flavors to the courtyard, Japón focuses on contemporary Japanese cooking and Ocean Grill sits directly on the beach. The open-air courtyard becomes a nightlife destination after dark without overwhelming the quieter guest areas.

The Setai is best for travelers who want South Beach access without the usual South Beach intensity. Its success comes from restraint: dark timber, water, privacy and service create a feeling of calm that is rare along Collins Avenue.
