Perched above Zeitz MOCAA in the V&A Waterfront, The Silo offers just 28 art-filled rooms and suites behind sculptural pillowed-glass windows, with a rooftop pool and spectacular Table Mountain views.
The Silo Hotel occupies the upper six floors of a converted grain silo in Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront, directly above Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa. The building’s industrial past and central cultural location give the property an identity that could not be reproduced in a conventional new hotel.
There are only 28 rooms and suites, each filled with contemporary African art and framed by the building’s huge pillowed-glass windows. No two interiors are identical, and the views range across Table Mountain, the harbor, Atlantic Ocean and city skyline.
A heated rooftop pool is reserved for resident guests and sits at one of the highest points in the Waterfront. The Silo Spa includes five treatment rooms, sauna, fitness center and dedicated manicure-and-pedicure facilities.
The Granary Café, Willaston Bar and Silo Rooftop handle dining and drinks, while Royal Tea and private dining extend the experience. The hotel’s art collection and direct museum connection make culture as central to the stay as food or wellness.
The Silo is best for travelers who want Cape Town expressed through art, architecture and landscape in a highly individual way. Its tiny room count and extraordinary building make it feel more like a private cultural landmark than a conventional luxury hotel.
