Tbilisi’s former central post and telegraph office has become a 239-room Neri&Hu-designed luxury hotel, preserving Soviet-modernist architecture while adding a wellness studio, rooftop nightlife and a deep restaurant-and-bar scene.
The Telegraph Hotel occupies the former central post and telegraph office on Rustaveli Avenue at Republic Square, one of Tbilisi’s most recognizable Soviet-era civic buildings. Designed in the 1960s, the structure became a landmark of Georgian modernism before being restored as a hotel.
Neri&Hu reworked the building into 239 rooms and suites that balance exposed architectural character with warm contemporary materials. Entry rooms begin around 30 square meters, while club suites add terraces and the Presidential Suite expands to roughly 260 square meters.
The hotel’s Wellness Studio includes treatment rooms, gym and dedicated Pilates space, while broader access to indoor and outdoor pools and spa facilities is available within the connected hospitality complex. The amenity mix gives a heritage conversion the depth of a much newer resort-scale project.
Dining and nightlife are unusually central to the concept. Grand Café, Laan Thai, The Grill, Bell & Gray, Wine Library and courtyard spaces are joined by Rolling Stone Rooftop Bar, which opened in 2025 as the brand’s first rooftop venue.
The Telegraph is best for travelers who want Tbilisi’s current creative energy embedded inside one of the city’s most important modernist buildings. Architecture, restaurants and nightlife make it feel like a cultural address as much as a hotel.
