The smaller of Tokyo’s two EDITION hotels, Ginza offers just 86 Kengo Kuma-designed rooms and suites, a 24-hour gym and four tightly curated food-and-drink spaces including Asia-ranked Punch Room.
The Tokyo EDITION, Ginza sits just off Chuo Street in the middle of Ginza’s luxury-shopping and dining district. Its low-slung, compact scale feels fundamentally different from the sky-high Toranomon property, placing guests directly into street-level Ginza life.
All 86 rooms and suites were designed by Kengo Kuma with Ian Schrager’s creative direction, using warm walnut, white fabrics and marble to create a minimalist but unusually tactile atmosphere. Eleven suites, including a 115-square-meter Penthouse, provide the hotel’s most residential accommodations.
There is no spa or swimming pool, which keeps the hotel’s wellness offering intentionally simple. A 24-hour Technogym fitness center provides the main facility, while guests wanting EDITION spa treatments are directed toward the larger Toranomon sister property.
Food and drink are the real social engine. Sophie at EDITION serves Italian cooking with handmade pasta, The Roof provides seasonal open-air drinks, the gold-toned Lobby Bar works throughout the day and Punch Room reinterprets the historic punch-bowl ritual using Japanese ingredients.
The Tokyo EDITION, Ginza is best for travelers who value location, intimacy and nightlife more than resort amenities. Eighty-six rooms make it one of the most boutique-feeling international luxury hotels in central Tokyo.
